Brand new, sealed book by Eva Struskova, titled "The Dodals / Dodalovi," along with a DVD.

The book is 376 pages and written in English.

The DVD is region-free but in PAL format (please check compatibility with your TV/player). It includes English subtitles and an English menu.

This book, accompanied by the DVD "The Dodals: Films and Documents," provides a comprehensive overview of the work and lives of Karel Dodal and his two life partners – Hermina Tyrlova (briefly Dodalova) and Irena Rosnerova (later Dodalova). Through a blend of text and images, it unveils a previously unknown chapter in the history of Czech interwar cinema.

In the late 1930s, films produced by IRE-Film, Prague's first professional animated film studio, laid the groundwork for modern advertising film in Czechoslovakia and pushed the boundaries of contemporary animated film.

The book and DVD, which feature various visual and audio materials, also depict Irena Dodalova’s imprisonment at the Terezin concentration camp from 1942 to 1945, and recount the tale of several stolen film fragments from that period.

Additionally, the author traces the postwar artistic careers of the Dodals during their exile in America and Argentina. Ultimately, the book seeks to answer how significantly the Dodals’ artistic efforts influenced Czech postwar animation, which later achieved international acclaim.
